Principal's Corner

October 15, 2009

Dear Parent(s),

I have attached two letters, an English version and a Spanish version, about our web-based Study Island Program for our 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in language arts and math. In addition, our 8th grade students have access to the Study Island Program in science. The Study Island Program was purchased to support our students' skill development in these areas both at school and at home. The attached correspondence provides the information on how to access the programs from home or the public library.

Our staff is in the process of registering your child and instructing them on how to access these programs. As parents you now also have the ability to access these exceptional learning tools from home or the public library. We are confident the more time your child can spend working on these programs at home or the library, the more successful they will be in developing and utilizing these skills. Thank you in advance for partnering with and supporting the school in helping your child develop and advance their skills in these areas.

On another note, to our sixth graders - good luck and have a wonderful time at Nature's Classroom or Adventure Week here at Roger Ludlowe Middle School next week!

Also, a special thank you to our 8th grade families for attending the mandatory Washington, DC informational meeting this past Wednesday evening. We are in the process of finalizing our plans for this trip which is just around the corner!

Have a wonderful weekend and if you have not done so already, please remember to purchase or renew your magazine subscriptions.

Sincerely,

Glenn Mackno
Principal
